People can “age in place” in a community
with neighbors who respect and care about each other

Not everyone can or should be a Here to Stay in Wintergreen volunteer. But everyone in our community can support this effort to make Wintergreen a place where, as our friends and neighbors age, they can continue to live safely and independently in their own homes with meaningful connections to the community.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

How we use your donation

Thanks to the generous financial support of individuals throughout the community who believed in the potential of Here to Stay in Wintergreen, the start-up costs were covered. Going forward, member dues will cover some costs, but donations will remain vital. All donations are used for the direct benefit of the members and volunteers. HSW’s expenses include:

  • Telephone service, a state-of-the-art email management system, website platform service, post office box, banking fees, postage, printing, etc.

  • Office supplies such as paper, printer ink, files, pens and pencils, staples, etc.

  • Insurance for board and volunteers, background checks on one-on-one volunteers, filing fees to obtain driving records, membership dues in the Village to Village Network, and required filings with government agencies.

  • Event costs such as speaker expenses, refreshments, napkins, etc.

Here to Stay in Wintergreen’s board is also working to establish a contingency fund to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.

HSW will forever be indebted to its founding supporters.

Here to Stay in Wintergreen is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable
