Who are our members?

The members of Here to Stay in Wintergreen are clear-eyed about the challenges that can come with growing older and are not intimidated. When they get sick or hurt, they work to get better. When they discover they no longer can do this or that as well as they should, they adapt and, when necessary, ask for help.

The members of HSW have different backgrounds, unique goals, and distinct points of view. They all share an interest in seeking new opportunities. They want to continue to learn, contribute and have fun. They want to stay connected to their community. They want to stay here in Wintergreen.

What Here to Stay in Wintergreen
offers to its members

First and foremost, this organization offers members a network made up of like-minded neighbors who have decided to age in place on Wintergreen mountain and Stoney Creek. The formal and casual sharing of ideas and information among the members and volunteers is Here to Stay in Wintergreen’s most worthwhile service.

Our network of volunteers and members have organized several specific services and programs:

  • Transportation is a concern several volunteers are working together to address, not only providing members rides to nearby cities for shopping or appointments but also offering to pick up and deliver items such as groceries and medications.

  • A group of HSW helpful volunteers assist members when those tiny chores around the house become too big because the member can no longer reach a high shelf, easily swing a hammer to hang a picture, or move a table to another room.
